For some reason the video pauses whenever I use the seeking or frame step function of SMPlayer. After "jumping", the video would play for a second or two and then slow down and pause. Weird since this doesn't happen when I use VLC.
Can someone please help me with this?

If you're using Ubuntu, change the audio ouput from alsa to pulse (or oss), in preferences -> general -> audio.
