Does SMPlayer video equalizer work on pause?

Postby brittney24 » Sun Aug 26, 2012 1:23 am

Sorry if this has been answered. I searched on this - a lot - on this forum & web. Nothing about using equalizer in pause mode. Maybe should be an FAQ or on the wiki.

I know you have to enable "use software video equalizer," but I can't get it to work while videos are paused. Tried checking / unchecking a few options there, but no go. It works during play. Must be some setting to enable. But why?

If the equalizer is enabled - at all - you'd have to be rocket man to equalize a moving video. That'd be like editing a photo that's constantly moving around the screen. So, if there IS another setting to make it work in pause mode, don't understand that logic. Other players, if video equalizer's turned on, it works in pause. No secret code sequence or hidden levers. I tried it on 3 versions of SMPlayer (including 1 w/ MPlayer2) - all no go.

Thanks.
Can't we all just get along? If a computer crashes when no one's around, does it make a sound?

Many things don't work on pause. It's a problem of mplayer. I can't fix it.

I understand. Other than coding the video equalizer was "hard to do," I can't imagine what mplayer devs had in mind for it only working in play. I guess if rendering was terrible, might be useful.
Definitely no use for fine tuning.

That goes back to another thread - at default settings, GL3 output in MPlayer2 gives noticeable better color, clarity on many vids, for me. If MPlayer equalizer worked in play, might get it to match rendering quality of GL3 (if messed w/ it long enough). Moot point now.
