Whenever I connect/disconnect the bluetooth while playing a file, Smplayer will stop working and I will have to close it and open again and it will work fine. This doesn't happen with other programs or when I connect the headphones to the computer. I don't know if it is a matter of configuration or if is expected to work like this.
I am using Mint 17.3 (Ubuntu 14.04) with pulseaudio and blueman 1.23

In my case, using Ubuntu 12.04, when I connect or disconnect the bluetooth headphones there's a freeze for a few seconds but then playback resumes. This is using the "default" output driver in smplayer and mpv as multimedia engine.

Right. It was a matter of configuration. I had alsa as audio driver since I liked it better. But changed to default and no problems with the Bluetooth :D
