Is VDPAU broken in latest Linux NVIDIA drivers?

Smplayer and VLC show a black screen, yet subtitles and audio appears without issues.

Could it be that this problem only applies to certain types of video codec? I have the same effect with xvid video, but not with h.264 video. Or do you assume that I'm experiencing a different problem?

I really couldn't say. I was hit by this bug and downgraded back to 384.59 after I saw the bug report without doing any extensive testing. Sorry.

Thank you GeneBenson! I just read your reply when I wanted to write that downgrading to the latest officially graphics driver supplied by solved the problem for me
