return video to window

Postby djk44883 » Sun Oct 08, 2017 6:14 pm

After I send video, how can I return it to the player or window? I can send video to the screen (monitor) the player is located but it's in it's own full screen'd mode. If I press F while the player if active window it full screens over the video. I can close the video from the panel and still hear it playing, click to send it the external screen and it's back - not in the player window.

I seemed to missed to option the return the video.

On my system, that sets it to the screen not back into the player window. If I un-fullscreen it, I have a window with the video and one for the player... I want it all back into one.

It happens on two different system with stretch - debian 9. Seem once it's sent to a screen, separate from the player it's self, there is no option to return to player - just swap screens while the player displays video is sent to an external screen.

What version of Qt is using smplayer? (you can see it in Help -> About smplayer)

I saw a similar problem (which I think I just fixed) in ubuntu, which happened only when smplayer was using Qt 5.

It's not that straight forward... I recall
Linux users may need to update mpv in order to use SMPlayer 17.10
from here: https://blog.smplayer.info/linux-users-may-need-to-update-mpv-in-order-to-use-smplayer-17-10/ I'd have to add or change repositories. I had used the one for debian to get smplayer, in the past, after upgrading, the one for mpv - although ubuntu generally works with debian, it's not necessarily the same. The ppa for mpv: https://launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/mpv-tests list ubuntu versions to select... I'd have to speculate, avoiding trial 'n error.

debian testing aka buster has smplayer 18.8 and mpv 27 I'll need to refresh myself on apt-pinning to add testing to my repository list.

I do appreciate your concern and otherwise enjoy smplayer!! It can be as simple or complex-all-inclusive as needed. Me, I like that I can keep it simple and it doesn't need to be anything more than just a video player for shows from my htpc dvr!
THANKS!

(yes, it's been years, but if I use it, I feel it's worth paying for... guess it's not to click paypal again :)

You can get SMPlayer 17.11 for Debian 9 here:
https://software.opensuse.org/download. ... e=smplayer

I think it'll probably work fine with mpv 0.23, so you won't need to update it.
