SMPlayer Support Forum

I upgraded my HTPC. I used to run run an older version of smplayer (sorry don't remember version) where i set the path to mplayer to /usr/local/bin/mplayer since i had an optimized version there.
Now after upgrade (Ubuntu 16.04, smplayer 16.11) still tries to use /usr/local/bin/mplayer which doesnt work anymore due to broken dependecies from the update. When i switch the engine in the GUI from "other" to "mplayer" everything works as expected, but the setting will revert to "other"/usr/local/bin/mplayer when i restart smplayer. How do i permanently make this setting stick?

(as a workaround i have now linked the working /usr/bin/mplayer to /usr/local/bin/mplayer)

If you select "other" and then type /usr/bin/mplayer then it should honor this setting and not fall back to /usr/local/bin/mplayer. I've just tested it with version 16.11 and it works this way.
