No audio when playing AVI format

Hi All,

So, I was playing this AVI file over the weekend and noticed that there was no audio. Nothing worked even after switching to all available options @ Preferences > General > Audio. No issue for MP4s and MKVs. I suppose this has been asked before. I just can't find enough information to fix this issue.

The backend is MPV. mplayer is not installed. Playing directly using MPV is okay (re:there is audio). On VLC it is okay too. I'm on Ubuntu 16.04.

Any ideas? Anyone has had the same experience before? How did you fix it?

Could you send the mpv log (menu View) after playing the avi file?

Sure, np! When I get home. I am still in the office. The log file you are asking for is the one @ CTRL + M. Right?

I have a feeling that this is related to the post titled - SMPlayer 17.10.0 on Ubuntu 16.04: no audio - where you mentioned the issue could be caused by the newer filters not in the outdated MPV version used by default on Ubuntu 16.04 repos.

On another note - sorry for this - doesn't SMPlayer check dependencies? If the newest version will break because of a dependency, should it not warn the user or abort the update?
