How to delay subtitles (.srt)

I have a .mkv and a .srt
the srt is properly displayed, however, it is 14 seconds too early

where the srt says 05:22, SMPlayer shows 05:36

Is there a way to adjust this so all times in the .srt are shifted accordingly.
If I am not mistaken VLC has some delay option(?)

Or should I use a different tool for this?

Thanks!

In the menu Subtitles there are options to change the delay.

No, the srt isn't modified. But SMPlayer will remember the delay.

If you want to save the srt, you can use the mplayer option -dumpsrtsub.

Thanks. I meanwhile also found Subtitle Edit 3.5.4.
It is a handy portable tool and I used that one to 'fix' the issue.
thanks again.
