SMPlayer Support Forum

Hello,
After the latest interaction problem between SMPlayer and mpv 0.15 I've been wondering if there was any plan to port the former to libmpv.

I'm asking because it would seem () that the mpv team is unwilling to further support CLI as API, so in the future SMPlayer could be stuck with the problem with no solution in sight.

I think in order to properly add support for libmpv I would had to remove the support for MPlayer, because it would be a mess to have two very different ways to communicate with the players. Or develop a new GUI for mpv from scratch (which I'm very reluctant to do).

Does mpv 0.15 without that patch mentioned in that discussion break SMPlayer? I did build mpv-0.15.0 packages on a Debian Jessie base, adding that patch just to be sure, and SMPlayer does keep on working as before, but I didn't have time to build an unpatched mpv to test that.

It works ok for me without any patch.
