I tried turn on karaoke filter, and turn it off, but then it start affecting the whole windows 10 machine, even after uninstall smlayer and reboot.

This happened for all audio output devices, and any audio/video players.

If I just change the audio balance just a bit, the vocal became normal again, but if the stereo balance at 50/50 i.e. balanced, the vocal disappeared, I think that's exactly how karaoke filter behave.

What exactly did the karaoke filter did to the system? Why the effect cannot be removed/turn off, and affecting the entire machine?

That's weird. The karaoke filter (when used with mpv) enables this filter: stereotools=mlev=0.015625
https://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-filters.html#stereotools

Be sure you're using the software volume control in preferences -> general -> audio, I guess this way it shouldn't affect the whole system, although I'm not sure.

(By the way, I can't reproduce the problem in my computer with Windows 10)
